Place the uncooked corn on the cob upright on a plate. Use a sharp knife or corn gadget to remove the kernels. Add the kernels and any released corn milk to a medium-sized saucepan.

In a medium-sized frying pan, cook four slices of thick slab bacon. Once cooked, drain on paper towels and cool. Cut into one-inch pieces.

Add the bacon pieces, 1/4 cup butter, and black pepper to taste into the saucepan with the corn kernels.

Cook the mixture over medium heat for 10–15 minutes, or until the corn is hot and cooked through. Serve immediately.
