Crock Pot Unstuffed Cabbage (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 pound ground beef
02 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
03 - 1 small onion, diced
04 - 1 small head cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
05 - 2 ½ cups water
06 - 1 cup uncooked instant rice
07 - 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
08 - 1 ½ teaspoons garlic salt
09 - 1 teaspoon paprika
10 - 1 teaspoon sugar
11 - 28 ounce can tomato sauce
12 - 14.5 ounce can petite diced tomatoes with juice (garlic & olive oil flavored preferred)

# Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with minced garlic and diced onion. Drain any excess grease.
02 - In the slow cooker, add chopped cabbage, water, uncooked instant rice, black pepper, garlic salt, paprika, sugar, tomato sauce, and petite diced tomatoes with their juice.
03 - Add the cooked ground beef mixture to the slow cooker and stir until thoroughly combined.
04 - Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until the rice and cabbage are tender.
05 - If the mixture is too thick, add more water, beef broth, or chicken broth to reach the desired consistency.
06 - Top each serving with shredded cheese if desired and serve warm.

# Notes:

01 - This dish can be customized by adding more liquid during cooking if a soupier consistency is preferred.
